I received an email yesterday from a District Little League President and she inquired if I had any suggestions for naturally healing tendinitis. As I was writing her back it got me thinking that others may be wondering the same thing so I thought I would share my response to her with you. I am not a medical professional so this is my opinion, however I have 3 sisters who are in medicine and I have had to deal with this ailment myself on many occasions. Some cases are more severe than others so when in doubt I encourage you to seek the advice of a nurse or doctor.
If you find this helpful please pass the link to this page on to your family, friends and co-workers. Also if you have different ways of treating tendinitis, please leave a response below and we will post it for others to see. I am always trying to learn more myself so it will help me as well.
Billy’s response to District Little League President:
Rub some dirt on it and tape an aspirin to it! I’m kidding of course.
When dealing with tendonitis I had the best results by doing 4 things
1. Running (this technique used for arm injury)
2. Ice the area 20 min on & 40 min off, 2 to 3 times a day
3. Taking fish oils
4. Rest
1. When you throw blood rushes to your arm and when you finish it can stay there and “stagnate”. Running flushes blood through your system and helps get any swelling and inflammation out of the area.
2. The term “-itis” is derived from the Greek word meaning inflammation so heat is a bad thing. Icing a few times a day will help calm things down. Be careful not to wrap the area too tight and if you are starting to feel pain or a dull numbing sensation, remove the ice immediately because you may be “freezing” a nerve which could lead to more serious damage.
3. Fish oil is a natural anti-inflammatory and is a great choice for people who don’t want to take pain relieving products like Advil.
4. One of the best things you can do when your arm or other body part is on fire is to take some time off and rest. The amount of days will vary depending on the situation, but taking a week off won’t kill you.
