The side plank star is an advanced core exercise which strengthens your abdominals, hips, and upper body. This exercise targets the oblique muscles and helps build strength, stability, and balance. This should be performed only after you are able to successfully master a side plank, which was discussed in our newsletter two issues ago. Please go to the following link later to read about this exercise- Issue 4 Volume 10.
SIDE PLANK STAR
Performance:
1) Lie on your side with your right hand on the ground and your feet stacked on top of each other.
2) Lift yourself up to form a plank with your right arm straight and left arm on your side.
3) Then separate your legs from one another and straighten your left arm into the air . This is the star formation for the side plank star.
Hold this position for 15 seconds on each side. Repeat for 2 more sets. You may progress to 20-30seconds as the exercise gets easier. Remember, before you begin any new exercise routine or program, make sure you check with your physician. Also, if you experience any pain during the exercise, stop and consult your physician.
